Defending champs CCDC Admirals crush PMA in lopsided BBEAL rout

Cordillera Career Development College Admirals means business.

The defending champion is eager for a rare three – peat in trouncing the Philippine Military Academy Cavaliers, 126 – 45, at the resumption of men’s basketball in the ongoing Baguio – Benguet Educational Athletic League Wednesday evening at their home court.

From a 5 – 2 lead, the Admirals unbuckled a 34 – 14 run in scoring one of the most lopsided victory in BBEAL’s 36 – year – old history as they gear up for a showdown with the league’s remaining top teams in Baguio College of Technology Atoms, Saint Louis University Navigators, and the University of the Cordilleras.

Admirals team captain Renz Jornacion knows the implications of these three games, and they are weary that a loss to any of these teams could cost their three – peat bid, but it will all depend on how his team mates will respond to pressure.

“We need to go hard on defense, lessen over confidence and listen to our coach,” said the Sta. Cruz, Ilocos Sur native.

Jornacion added while they have already move past their 91 – 88 loss against rival UB Cardinals, the team needs to learn from these kinds of games to be able to have better chemistry as the tournament goes on.

“Andun pa rin yung goal namin na makuha yung three – peat sa BBEAL.  Tiwala kame na malaki pa rin ang chance namin against UB kung sakaling magkaharap ulit kame sa finals,” added the third year Hospitality Management student.

After two quarters, the Admirals were already enjoying 78 – 29 advantage and was never threatened of any come back from the Fort Del Pilar based dribblers.

Jornacion finished the ball game with 15 points where he weas used sparingly during the ball game as they gear up for the Jaguars on Saturday at the SLU Prince Bernhard Gymnasium then against CCDC on November 16 at UB Gym and will close out their season 36 campaign against SLU on the 22nd.

John Mar Cabradilla led the Admirals with 20 points built on six triples with Leomar Jade Vasadre adding 15 as Arjay Cantaoi chipped in 11 for the Buyagan, La Trinidad, Benguet based squad.

It was another tough loss for the Cavaliers with cadets Ernie Palalio and Jeff Montinola firing away 14 markers each while Manuel Garlitos added 13.

Meanwhile, the UB Cardinals remain unbeaten in five games after dumping Benguet State University Wild Cats,

92 – 50, earlier at the CCDC Gym.

David Gaerlan towed the Cardinals with 19 while David Esgana had 16 as Herald Sanchez added 9.

Justin Cavestany led the Wildcats on his 20 points while Aljon Estillore came up with 12. Roderick Osis
