Tree care, tree planting continues

The Urban Forestry Management Division (UFMD) of the City Environment and Parks Management Office (CEPMO) led by Atty. Rhenan Diwas has assisted and continues to assist tree planters, as well as provide pine tree and fruit tree bearing seedlings from the city’s nurseries.

Twenty (20) groups from the community have scheduled tree care and tree planting this month and the next, as recorded by UFMD head Forester Floro Bastian.

On Sept. 25, the National Authority for Child Care (NACC) office is scheduled to plant at Forbes Park, while on Sept. 12, Clean Tech Global Renewables has committed to plant 500 seedlings at Buyog watershed.

On Sept. 15, the Child and Family Services, Philippines Inc. (CFSPI) through in-charge Chit Habon shall plant in an area yet to be identified.

On August 31, Charity Mallare has committed to plant trees along South drive, her barangay while on August 30, Dominican Mirador National High School SSLG, Yes-O, and Senior Scouts plant at the Arboretum, Forbes Park and Botanical areas.

On August 25, the University of Baguio (UB) led by President Javier Herminio Bautista plants 250 citrus seedlings, while on August 22 and 29, Chalet Baguio personnel plants 200 seedlings each batch at Pag-asa compound and the watershed near Baguio Water District (BWD).

From the Baguio Central University (BCU), fifteen individuals plant at the Busol Watershed; while last Saturday, August 16, the Cordillera Young Leaders Club conducted tree care at the Arboretum.

Toyota Baguio has an adopted site at South drive which may be planted or cared for; and from the Joaquin Smith High School, 50 students and three advisers of the Yes-O Kabayani, Journalism Club, Red Cross, Science Club, Fitness and CTP groups plant at the Arboretum, Forbes and Botanical garden.

Ericson Ferrer of the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas plants or care for a site at Forbes Park DPS compound, while Evelyn Balisong has committed to plant 65 assorted trees.

From the barangays, Punong Barangay Janet Tiamzon of Andres Bonifacio and residents, plant 50 and 20 seedings at South Drive; while from the office of the Punong Barangay of Scout Barrio, fruits trees were planted or cared for.

From Lower Rock Quarry, Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Jairah Mona with 30 of her colleagues, plant 60 assorted seedlings; as her counterpart at Asin, SK Shireh Joshua Dumaniw chose to plant Persimmon and Cherry guava in the vicinity.

Kagawad Danilo Datoc and residents of Holy Ghost Extension take care of their adopted area, while President of barangay Gibraltar solo parents, Jennifer Sinner and members plant 30 ice cream bean seedlings.

Though the planting season and the Saleng festival celebration coincidentally ends this September, the seedlings and assistance for tree care shall still be available.
