Many times, we try to find out the reasons to live. Maybe we are bunking on the wrong question because the question may be “Why not live?” Only then, we will realize that there should be a full exercise of the right to live with the complete faculties of mental and physical health.
Why shouldn’t you live? You have a space and purpose in this world no matter how you are like a dot in this universe. Imagine that a tiny dot in the universe is living and breathing and that there are bigger or smaller dots than you, say for example, elephants and ants? Yet in this universe, humans are unique. But in this uniqueness, there’s no one who is exactly like you. Amazing, isn’t it?
September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month. Have you thought about the right to live as a precious gem rather than something that you can easily discard with? Think of it more as a gift or surprise – waiting to happen and waiting to be lived the way you do!
Personally, I have asked myself many times why I had this illness and why it has to be me when I could have made life – seem bigger. But I realize, sometimes you have to go through stuff to make you whole. Like a stuffed toy, piercing inside that one yarn or cottony like balls, one stuff at a time. Remember that your perspective is only one side of the story. So, make sure that you own the story with the must and eagerness to live even one day at a time.
There were times, I didn’t want to get up and just moniker my lazy self everyday. But I realize, you have to force yourself to fill that void and empty space inside you. There were a lot of crying times, but it left me no choice but to move on. It’s not easy. It’s embarrassing. No one who goes through a mental illness will tell you it’s easy. But eventually, you can do it with your own light-illuminating hope. There’s often no choice but to have it. No reason as powerful as that hope inside you can make you feel more alive.
If you’re wanting to find that sign that makes you feel alive, live life – your way and your rules. The other things will just fade in the background. For what is yours, will eventually be yours. Choose yourself always and that emotional peace of choosing yourself will limit yourself into boundaries you can do. Then, everything will fall into place.
For the meantime, as you wait for every opportunity that comes your way, prioritize yourself and don’t ask why you are living but ask “Why not live?”. It’s amazing how our minds and thoughts could bring the life we really wanted.
