Defending champion Cordillera Career Development College Admirals used a balanced attack in diminishing the defense of Baguio College of Technology Atoms, 112 – 67.
The Admirals found their groove from beyond the arc early on as they secure a possibel semi- finals berth in men’s basketball of the Baguio – Benguet Educational Athletic League Season 36 Sunday afternoon at the UB Cardinals gym.
Aaron Nang-is took charge late even when the ballgame is already settled, scoring a team high of 18 points, four from beyond the arc while four other Admirals scored in double digit with John Mar Cabradilla chipping in 15, Paolo Boado added 14, as Renz Jornacio and Joey Manantan had 10 points each.
Right from the tipoff, the Admirals immdiately took control of the ball game with their suffocating defense as they close out the first period with a 32 – 17 advantage.
Julius Tapac meanwhile led the BCT Atoms with 17 points.
League leader University of Baguio Cardinals meanwhile rested its usual starters with some players answering the call as the Cardinals took down Univesity of the Philippines – Baguio with ease, 93 – 37.
Fresh from their huge win over Saint Louis University Satruday afternoon, the Cardinals was all business posting a 22 – 7 lead at the end of the first quarter and never looked back in postin their sixth win in a many games while securing the top seed going into the semifinals.
Sean Dingle and John Olivo picked – up the scoring for the Cardinals with22 apiece while Kharem Nabus had 17 and David Gaerlan added 15.
The Cardinals will still see action against Baguio Cenrtal University Eagles on Thursday at the UC Gym in a no contest game but head coach Kevin Orduna said they will not take their opponent lightly.
“Ayaw namin mag relax, gusto namin yung energy tuloy – tuloy hanggang semis at championship,” said Orduna.
Andre Mollo and Thomas Edison led UP – Baguio with 13 and 11 markers.
In other games, the Navigators bounced after edging BCU Eagles, 82 – 71.
Alexis Ercilla had 18 in towing SLU to its fourth win in five outings while Angelo Cacho and Vence Nycum added15 and 12 respectively.
Kenneth Damogo and Micheal Tamayo meanwhile scored 20 points each while Rod Ollado added 12 for the Season32 host Eagles.
In another BBEAL men’s basketball match- up, Justin Cavestany scored 25 points while Zion Pinmilliw and Lloyd Dennis Calma added12 and 11 respectively as the Benguet State University Wildcats dropped the Philippine MIlitary Academy Cavaliers, 95 – 71.
Cadet Joshua Montefalcon took charge for the Cavaliers with18 points while John Quizon and John Baran added 13 and12 points respectively. Roderick Osis
