La Trinidad, Benguet – Work has begun at the largest community mural in La Trinidad, Benguet.
Over 300 homes at the STOBOSA (Stonehill, Botiwtiw, and Sadjap in Barangay Balili) will see a new design and will now expand its area to the Pico area, fronting the famed colored houses which has become a top destination.
The local government of La Trinidad has spearheaded the 2023 re design and re-painting project aiming to give a new look to the 2016 mural painted on the STOBOSA area which originally depicted flowers, strawberries and local icons. The present design depicts splashes of colors forming a wave pattern, with icons to be painted on individual homes.
Davies Paints Philippines Marketing and Communications Manager, Joanne Virina said the project will entail the release of 4,500 gallons of paint to cover both areas, “We have released half of the amount, including the primers for homes.”
Work started for the project in May and has now completed 24 fully painted houses and 28 painted with white primer paint.
La Trinidad, Tourism Officer, Valred Olsim said “The unique STOBOSA repainting project, though experiencing various challenges like funding of labor and unfavorable weather, is positively progressing. The main portion of which may be completed in time for the town’s tourism week in September, and the rest at the end of the year. We would like to thank again Davies Paints for the Paints, Tam-awan Village Artists for the design and supervision, Cong. Eric G. Yap for labor support, and the STOBOSA Community for their participation.”
