City commends public and private sectors for Adopt-A-Park contributions

The Baguio City government once again commended the significant contributions of both private enterprises and government agencies to the Adopt-A-Park program during its flag-raising ceremony on April 1.

The Adopt-A-Park initiative, established through Ordinance No. 49 in 2011 and supplemented by Ordinance No. 110 in 2023 is a community-driven program that empowers community members in collectively enhancing the cleanliness, attractiveness and safety of public spaces like parks, waiting sheds, streets and center islands. The City Environment and Parks Management Office (CEPMO) determines the spaces to be adopted, developed, beautified and maintained by the adopting party.

Among the notable private establishments and groups honored for their contributions to the Adopt-a-Park program were SM Baguio, the University of the Cordilleras and the Baguio Everlasting Lions Club. Their active involvement in landscaping, gardening, and overall improvements has significantly enhanced the appeal of public spaces, making them more inviting for recreational activities and social gatherings.

Furthermore, the commendation extends to various government offices such as the Bureau of Jail Management & Penology (BJMP), City Engineering Office (CEO), Baguio City Police Office (BCPO), Baguio City Public Information Office (PIO), and Public Order & Safety Division (POSD) for providing invaluable assistance to the project.

Special recognition was also given to the dedicated members of the CEPMO Street Island Team headed by Atty. Rhenan Diwas and Engr. Marivic Empizo, whose tireless efforts have been instrumental in the success of the program. Members of the team such as Jocelyn Macadangdang, Lani Bullo, Antonio Ocampo, Villamor Zaparita and others have demonstrated exemplary commitment to maintaining and beautifying the city’s street islands and parks..

This is the second batch of awarding of park adopters after the first batch was awarded on February 19, 2024 such as Forest Lodge, The Manor at Camp John Hay, Baguio Country Club, PMSEA, Sunshine Supermart, Mabelline Landscaping Services, Baguio Sunflower Lions Club, Zonta, GSP, Victory Liner, La Faayette, Abong Foundation, Tiongsan Harrison, YMCA and other park adopters.

Mayor Benjamin Magalong said the contributions of these park adopters do not go unnoticed, and the City is immensely grateful for their commitment to the beautification and preservation of our city’s public spaces.
