The city and San Jose City, Nueva Ecija formally establish their sisterhood relationship to expand their collaboration in various aspects of governance.
Under Resolution No. 417, series of 2023, local legislators also authorized the City Mayor representing the local government to enter into a memorandum of understanding with the officialdom of San Jose City, Nueva Ecija represented by Mayor Mario O. Salvador for the said purpose.
During the meeting on May 17, 2023 of the Baguio City Sister Cities Executive Committee, the friendship cities relationship between Baguio and San Jose City, Nueva Ecija was strongly endorsed.

The council pointed out that the city government is cognizant and adheres to the concept of governmental and institutional collaborations to foster bilateral development in areas of parallel interests.
Baguio and its partner cities and organizations have long been in the headway of mutual development, encouraging various forms of exchange in tourism, governance, investment, education, culture and the arts, environment and technology.
In a letter dated August 12, 2022, Mayor Salvador expressed appreciation to the city government for its generosity and for warmly receiving their team during their visit in the city in July last year.
He further expressed his desire for the city to adopt San Jose City as a sister city for cultural arts, tourism and developmental endeavours.
Conscious of the positive implications mutually beneficial to the cities involved, Mayor Benjamin Magalong formalized the intention for more vigorous exploration of the possibility of forging sisterhood ties with San Jose City as contained in a letter dated March 15, 2023 addressed to Mayor Salvador.
On April 4, 2023, a team composed of members of the Baguio City Sister Cities Executive Committee and Secretariat and members of the City Council visited San Jose city to determine the commonalities and possible areas of cooperation between the cities. – Baguio City Public Information Office
