Dave Leprozo Jr.’s collection is the photographic narrative of the Cordillera region, North of the Philippines, in its ruggedly enchanting mountains.
The exhibition is a collection of places of interest, daily life and its beautiful people captured through the lens of Leprozo, spanning his career as premier photojournalist. Scenes showing rich culture, creative arts, tangible and intangible heritage as well as sacred tradition will take you to the remotest areas and show the beauty of the highland way of life in an effort to help preserve the dying practices.
With an impeccable sense of timing and an innate connection to his subjects, Leprozo captures the essence of this diverse landscape, where nature and humanity coexist in remarkable harmony.
The Cordillera has six diverse provinces, Abra, Ifugao, Kalinga, Benguet, Mountain Province and Baguio City, all with a unique set of heritage and culture, rooted on the love for respect for tradition and a preservation of faith that powers the growth of each area to this day.
The exhibit invites you to embark on a visual expedition, allow yourself to be transported to intimate moments that define the Cordillera experience and celebrate the culture of the Cordillera people. Leprozo captures the faces and traditions that have thrived for generations, intricately woven fabrics, elaborate handcrafted jewelry, and the solemn rituals of daily life are preserved in his images, inviting us to reflect on the rich heritage that defines the Cordillera’s identity.
The exhibit runs until September 15, 2023 at SM City Baguio.
